A Multi-Day Quito Experience
Spend four days and three nights with us and experience everything that Quito has to offer! Immerse yourself in the local culture, and get to know the people and places that make this city so special.
Day 1: Transfer from airport to your accommodations
Day 2: Breakfast at the hotel, followed by excursion to the Otavalo Market
Today we visit Cayambe, where you have the opportunity to taste the delicious bizcochos de Cayambe, a type of cracker or bread baked in a clay oven (deliciously paired with local cheese or caramel sauce).
After admiring the beautiful Lake San Pablo, we arrive at the Otavalo Market, the largest in America, where the indigenous people of the area — one of Ecuador’s most recognized ethnic groups, known as Otavalos — make and sell their textiles and handicrafts.
You may choose to either stay in this area and enjoy more time in the market, and our bus picks you up at the end of the tour, or continue on the journey to the town of Cotacachi, recognized for leather clothing and crafts.
In Cotacachi, you have time to visit the village, the leather goods shops, and grab lunch (not included). Later, we visit the Ecological Reserve where the Cuicocha lagoon is located, inside the crater of the Cotacachi Volcano, which originated after a volcanic explosion thousands of years ago. If the weather permits, we sail in the crater of the volcano in small boats (with additional cost).
** Our transport waits for a period of 10 minutes in Otavalo to pick up the passengers who stayed at the market before returning to Quito and dropping you off at your accommodation.
Day 3: Breakfast at the hotel, followed by City Tour: Historic Quito & Middle of the World tour
We visit the city’s historic center, the largest and best preserved in South America, in one of our original trolleys, which are replicas of the trams that circulated in Quito last century.
Visit the Basilica del Voto Nacional Church, where we will make a brief stop for an explanation of its facade, Next we move towards the Panecillo viewpoint, renowned for its beauty, where you can see the giant statue of the “Winged Virgin” and admire a beautiful landscape of colonial and modern Quito.
Next, we continue to the Plaza de San Francisco, one of the representative places of the city that is full of history, then walk to the Plaza Grande, the historical and political center of the city surrounded by innumerable attractions including the Cathedral, the Palace of Government, the Archbishop’s Palace, and the La Compañía church. (Entrance to the churches is not included.)
Our next stop is the traditional La Ronda neighborhood, in whose romantic setting we find workshops where you can meet a group of authentic artisans and learn about how their works are elaborated and trades of yesteryear that keep the cultural traditions of this charming city alive.
Next, we make a stop at the Zona Rosa of the city, where you can enjoy approximately an hour and a half of free time for lunch (not included), and later we continue with our excursion to the middle of the world.
Our next stop is the “Middle of the World City,” where you can see the monument that divides the Northern Hemisphere from the Southern Hemisphere of the planet. This monument was built during the XVII century, when a French expedition defined the precise location of the equatorial line that divides the world.
Your tour includes entrance to the Middle of the World complex, where you can live experiences that defy the laws of physics and occur only in this part of the world. After visiting this privileged place and registering it in your passport, you see Ecuador and the Middle of the World in a different way.
