A nature excursion near Cuenca!

Quick Details

Explore Ecuador’s Cajas National Park

Visit the picturesque Cajas National Park and take a hike to explore its beautiful lagoons. Join us on an unforgettable excursion to discover the fauna and flora that thrive in this area.

Cajas is a national park located on the northwestern side of the city of Cuenca. It’s formed by wetlands from glacial origins, and it features more than 200 lakes. Our visit starts on the lower part of the park in the Llaviuco area, only 30 minutes away from the city of Cuenca. We hike at an easy pace for one hour at an altitude of 3,000 meters above sea level (9,842 feet).

We continue our visit by traveling to a point called Tres Cruces, which forms the Continental divide between the Pacific and the Atlantic oceans at an altitude of 4,135 meters (13,566 feet). We take a short walk to observe this interesting area, then we descend and perform our main hike at an altitude of 3,900 meters (12,795 feet) for approximately three hours. The difficulty at this point is moderate.

Along the trail, we visit a beautiful primary forest and observe the interesting vegetation. After an exciting day of hiking and exploring, we return to Cuenca.

Important note: We recommend bringing warm clothes, a bottle of water, and some snacks.

We reserve the right to change the order of the tour or suspend due to weather conditions or by order from Cajas National Park.
